Phil Jones has shaken off a facial injury and will take his place in the Manchester United squad for the Boxing Day clash with Wigan Athletic.

Last time out Manchester United struck five without reply against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

However, that victory came at a cost as Ashley Young sustained an ankle injury that will keep him out of action for around three weeks.

Centre-back Phil Jones, who suffered a facial injury in the same game, has been passed fit for the match Old Trafford.

Visiting Wigan, who have scored fewer goals than any other team in the Premier League this season, have no new injury worries for the trip.

Long-term absentees Emmerson Boyce and goalkeeper Chris Kirkland are the only players to miss out.

Current form:

Man United: WDWWWW
Wigan: DWLWDD

Sports Mole says: 2-0
