Wigan Athletic pair Gary Caldwell and David Jones are both fitness doubts for the trip to Newcastle United on Monday.
Scotland international Caldwell is recovering from a hamstring problem while Jones picked up a calf injury in the midweek defeat to Manchester City.
Latics boss Roberto Martinez has rated the duo as "50-50", but is hopeful that they can recover in time to bolster a Wigan squad blighted by injuries.
Ben Watson is a long-term absentee with a broken leg, while attacking midfield trio Ryo Miyaichi, Shaun Maloney and Albert Crusat are also sidelined.
Defensive pair Ivan Ramis and Antonin Alcaraz are also nursing muscle strains and will miss the fixture against the Magpies.
