Wigan Athletic slipped to their seventh consecutive defeat in all competitions after a 1-0 loss at home to Fulham this afternoon.
The first chance of the afternoon fell to the home side, but Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer was on hand to turn Ben Watson's volley wide of goal.
From the resultant corner kick centre-back Gary Caldwell headed over from six yards out.
Just as the two sides looked to be heading into half time level, the away side opened the scoring. Danny Murphy lifted the ball over the top for Bobby Zamora who moved inside the area before crossing for Clint Dempsey who scored from close range.
Roberto Martinez's Wigan went close to drawing level shortly after the restart, with midfielder Victor Moses striking the inside of the post after an individual run.
With the Latics pushing forward, Fulham struck on the counter-attack courtesy of substitute Moussa Dembele to condemn Wigan to the bottom of the table.
