Bristol Rovers close in on Lee Nicholls loan signing?

A report claims that young goalkeeper Lee Nicholls will swap Wigan Athletic for Bristol Rovers on a temporary basis.

Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Lee Nicholls is reportedly close to joining Bristol Rovers on loan.

The former England Under-19s international currently finds himself well down the pecking order at the DW Stadium.

A temporary move is now expected to be on the cards, with Rovers the favourites to land the 22-year-old stopper.

It is suggested by the Bristol Post that a switch could be completed on Thursday afternoon, which will bolster the Pirates' options between the sticks.

Nicholls has featured eight times for Wigan, including twice in the Europa League, while also spending a full season on loan at Northampton Town in 2012-13.
