Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost out for six weeks with broken foot

Wolfsburg confirm that striker Bas Dost will be out for at least six weeks after breaking his foot in training.

Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have announced that striker Bas Dost will be out for at least six weeks after breaking a bone in his foot in training.

Dutch international Dost, who has reportedly been targeted by Newcastle United this month, could be out for longer if he requires surgery on the problem.

"As things stand now we expect that Bas will require surgery," Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs told the club website.

"Shortly before the injury we had a great chat with Bas and he came out firing on all cylinders. It is a shame this will now be interrupted."

Last season Dost scored 16 goals in 21 league appearances to help Wolfsburg finish second in the Bundesliga, but this season he has managed just seven in 16 and not netted since November.
