Kenny Jackett cools promotion talk

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Kenny Jackett plays down his side's hopes of automatic promotion, despite beating rivals Brentford 3-0 at Griffin Park.

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Kenny Jackett has moved to play down his side's chances of automatic promotion after defeating rivals Brentford 3-0 at Griffin Park today.

James Henry opened the scoring before Michael Jacobs added a brace in the final 15 minutes to propel Wolves into second place in the League One standings.

Jackett's men sit behind Leyton Orient on goals scored having registered an identical number of points and goal difference as the Londoners, but the 52-year-old remains cautious over his team's prospects of escaping the division.

"This is a great win against a side with plenty of momentum," he told reporters.

"But it is only one day and we have to get over this and start working again straightaway. We haven't achieved anything yet but it was an excellent performance."

The West Midlands outfit resume their promotion push by hosting Port Vale at Molineux on Saturday.
