Nuno Espirito Santo: 'I did not vote for Neil Warnock for Manager of the Year'

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo reveals that his Manager of the Year vote was not for eventual winner Neil Warnock.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo has admitted that his vote for Manager of the Year was not winner Neil Warnock.

The Cardiff City boss won the award for Championship Manager of the Year this week, which is voted for by the league's 24 first-team coaches.

The Bluebirds are currently sat in the automatic promotion places in the table, but Nuno has revealed that he voted for Fulham head coach Slavisa Jokanovic instead.

"When this award is given it's based on the [managers]," Nuno said in a press conference.

"I have my personal vision, my vote was not for Neil Warnock because I believe football is an idea and the way teams play is the idea of their managers. I prefer another kind of approach and ideas on football. It's well deserved, people voted for him because they like and appreciate Neil Warnock. My congratulations for him, my vote was not for him.

"Mine was for Jokanovic. I don't know what were the thoughts of the managers but if they voted it's because they believe it's what they like and prefer. My work is not for individual prizes, it goes much beyond that."

Nuno's Wolves currently sit six points clear at the top of the Championship table.
