Dean Saunders confirms that David Davis is likely to miss the rest of the season through injury.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Dean Saunders has confirmed that midfielder David Davis is expected to miss the remainder of the season with an ankle ligament injury.

Reports yesterday claimed that Davis had suffered ligament damage and now Saunders has made it official.

"It's another freak impact injury I suppose," Saunders told the club's official website. "We got the MRI scan on Monday and I think he's out for the rest of the season with ankle ligament damage.

"The impact injuries are surprising - I broke my nose, but I never broke any bones in my feet or my legs.

"To lose possibly six players in four weeks - three to broken bones with Carl Ikeme, Dave Edwards and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake - is a nightmare. These are mostly all players who have been regulars."

Wolves are currently just a point above the relegation zone.
