Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Stale Solbakken insists that Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong will not be joining the club in the near future.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Stale Solbakken believes that it would be an "insult" to David Davis if the club had signed Emmanuel Frimpong on loan.

The Arsenal youngster spent time on loan at Wolves last season before suffering a serious knee injury but after he was linked with a return to Molineux, Solbakken has revealed that he will give David Davis an opportunity to play in the first-team rather than sign Frimpong.

Solbakken told the Birmingham Mail: "It would be very rude and not right when we have David Davis, who we've encouraged and who has made real progress. Frimpong is a good player but he needs four to eight weeks more to come back to his best. That's harsh against Davis because he's the one who'd be put one step behind.

"I don't think that is fair. If Frimpong was at his best and didn't have this knee injury, then he could go into the team and strengthen us.

"He's a quality player but has been out for a long time and played only three or four games. That would be an insult to Davis, who has got these messages he's close to the team and has done well."

Wolves are currently sitting in 15th place in the Championship table.
