Richard Stearman: 'I want to stay at Wolverhampton Wanderers'

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Richard Stearman reveals that he wants to sign a new contract at Molineux.

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Richard Stearman has revealed that he is eager to sign a new contract at Molineux.

The League One champions have yet to open talks with Stearman, despite head coach Kenny Jackett admitting that he wants the defender to remain at the club, and Stearman has indicated that he would be delighted to stay in the West Midlands next year.

The 26-year-old is quoted by the Express & Star as saying: "If something can be agreed, then nothing would please be more than to be here for 'x' amount of years. I'm waiting now to see how things go, we'll have to see what happens.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed being one of the more experienced players in the dressing room this season. It's another string to my bow to take on that more senior role and I think that I've thrived on it and the boys have responded to my role in a positive way. I've loved every minute of it.

"This is right up there for me in my career. Hopefully I'll see more in a Wolves shirt as well."

Stearman has made 44 appearances in all competitions this season.
