Castleford Tigers have ended their two-match losing run in the Super League with a 42-38 victory at Widnes Vikings.

An entertaining first half saw Gareth Hock claim a hat-trick for the home side, while Joe Mellor also went over.

Meanwhile, Justin Carney (2), Ryan Boyle, Nathan Massey and Jamie Ellis responded for the visitors.

Rhys Hanbury went over at the start of the second half to level the match at 24-24, before Frank Winterstein and Hock touched down to give the Vikings a 34-24 lead.

Adam Milner scored a try for the visitors with 10 minutes to play, and the turnaround was complete thanks to late scores from Weller Hauraki and Michael Channing.

Winterstein scored his second try of the match late on, but it was not enough to stop Castleford from claiming the points.
