Akapusi Qera has insisted that Fiji can cause a shock as they look to qualify from a difficult Pool A at the World Cup.
Fiji will start the tournament against hosts England next Friday, but Australia and Wales are also likely to challenge for the two qualification spots in a pool completed by Uruguay.
However, Qera believes that a confident Fijian squad is strong enough to repeat the success they enjoyed in 2007, when they lost to eventual winners South Africa in the last eight.
"My personal view is that we've got a good bunch of boys and what we have over other teams is the brotherhood we have with each other," the captain told reporters. "We look after each other and we'd die for each other and that's the spirit we'll be taking through into our first game.
"With this bunch of boys, I have faith in them that we can surprise the world. Next week is a do-or-die game for us."
Fiji have lost to England in all five of their previous matches.
