Leicester Tigers edge out Toulouse

Leicester seal a place in the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup with a narrow win over Toulouse in tricky conditions.

Heavy snow led to a difficult game for Leicester Tigers and Toulouse in the Heineken Cup this afternoon, with Tigers just edging a win to seal a place in the next round of the tournament.

Leicester took a lead at half time, with Toby Flood overcoming the tricky conditions to kick three penalties, while Lionel Beauxis and Luke McAlister missed the same number for the visitors.

Toulouse got themselves back in to the match early in the second half with a Yoann Huget try, but the weather meant that Beauxis was unable to complete the conversion.

Tigers were without Flood for 10 minutes towards the end of the match, as the fly half was sin-binned for a deliberate knock-on.

The win ensures that Leicester finish top of their pool and progress to the quarter-final stage of the competition.
