Wasps confirm that head coach Shaun Edwards is to leave his post after a ten-year association with the Adams Park club.

London Wasps have confirmed that Shaun Edwards is leaving his role as head coach of the club.

Reports yesterday suggested that the 45-year-old could be about to end his ten-year association with the High Wycombe-based side, although no confirmation was made by either party.

However, it has now been revealed that Edwards made the decision to leave in an attempt to pursue other opportunities in the game.

"I want to take this opportunity on behalf of the club to thank Shaun for everything he has done for Wasps over the past ten years and wish him the best of luck in the next stage of his career," said chief executive Chris Thomas.

"This is not a financial decision as has been suggested elsewhere, but a decision solely based on what is best for both parties with Shaun keen to test himself in a new environment."

Edwards added: "I would like to thank the supporters, sponsors, fellow coaches and owners of London Wasps but most of all the many great players who I have had the privilege to coach in my ten years at the club.

"I will always have fond memories of my time with Wasps and feel ready and excited for some new challenges ahead of me.

"The experiences of the recent British and Irish Lions tour and the recent World Cup have given me more knowledge than I have ever had."

A number of pundits are currently linking with a role within the England set-up.
