Rafael Nadal will make his comeback from injury in the ATP World Tour event in Doha on December 31.

Former world number one Rafael Nadal will make his long-awaited comeback from injury in the ATP World Tour event in Doha at the end of the year.

The Spaniard has not played since June after suffering a knee injury, but he returned to the practice court last week and is expected to compete in the Australian Open in January.

However, he will ease his way back into action when he takes part in the Qatar ExxonMobil Open which will begin on December 31.

Roger Federer will not take part in this year's Doha tournament, however, as he has an extended rest period ahead of the first Grand Slam event of the year.
