Stanislas Wawrinka hammers Tomas Berdych 6-1 6-1 to start his ATP World Tour Finals campaign on a winning note.

Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka has got his ATP World Tour Finals campaign off to an emphatic start with a 6-1 6-1 victory over Tomas Berdych.

Wawrinka began the match in confident fashion, holding serve to love in the opening game before breaking Berdych in the next.

The Swiss player's dominance continued as his power from the baseline could not be matched by the error-prone Berdych. He broke again in the fourth game before claiming the opening set 6-1 in just 25 minutes.

Wawrinka was barely troubled in the second as he broke twice more to open up a commanding 4-1 lead. The 29-year-old then closed out the one-sided encounter 6-1 6-1 with an hour played.

The other two players in Group A, top seed Novak Djokovic and US Open champion Marin Cilic, meet later this evening at the O2 Arena.
