Andy Murray drawn against qualifier in Australian Open

Andy Murray will play a qualifier in the first round of the Australian Open but faces a tough path to the final.

British number one Andy Murray has been drawn against a qualifier in the first round of the Australian Open.

The sixth seed faces a tough path to the final, with a potential fourth-round clash with Grigor Dimitrov and a possible quarter-final against Roger Federer on the cards.

Murray's fellow Briton James Ward will play Fernando Verdasco of Spain, while four-time champion Novak Djokovic is also up against a qualifier.

Federer will take on Lu Yen-hsun in the first round, and Rafael Nadal will lock horns with Mikhail Youzhny.

The Australian Open will take place between January 19 and February 1.
