Jo-Wilfried Tsonga targets first Grand Slam title at French Open

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga says that he is hungry to add a Grand Slam title to his career honours list.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has set his sights on winning the first Grand Slam title of his career after securing his place in the semi-finals of the French Open.

The 30-year-old dispatched Kei Nishikori 6-1 6-4 4-6 3-6 6-3 in the quarter-finals at Roland Garros and is determined to go the distance on his home turf.

This is the sixth time Tsonga has reached a Grand Slam semi-final, and the second time in three years that he has made the last four of the French Open.

"These six semis, well, that's wonderful, but I have not yet won [a Grand Slam title]," he told reporters.

"So six semis, that's all very nice. I have not yet won it. The good thing would be to win one day. The earlier I can do this - well, if this happens, the earlier the better, because then it will do me a lot of good."

Tsonga will play Stanislas Wawrinka for a place in the final.
