Janko Tipsarevic is booted out of the Monte Carlo Masters at the second-round stage due to a straight-sets win for Grigor Dimitrov.

The number eight seed at the Monte Carlo Masters, Janko Tisparevic, has been knocked out of the tournament by Grigor Dimitrov, who secured a 7-6[3] 6-1 victory on centre court.

The Bulgarian matched his opponent on the clay surface by holding his serve, but failed to secure an early break to put pressure on Tipsarevic.

Dimitrov managed to take control when a tie-break was needed to decide the set by halting Tipsarevic to just three points and grabbing the set.

Instead of launching a fightback in the second set, Tipsarevic struggled to answer Dimitrov's swift and powerful returns, which helped him snatch the first break and push on to control the set.

The eighth seed could only muster one game as Dimitrov booked a place in the third round.
