British number one Andy Murray will carry through his confidence from clinching an Olympic gold medal when he heads into the US Open, according to his mother Judy.
The 25-year-old, who defeated Roger Federer in straight sets to win gold at London 2012, has been hampered slightly in his US Open preparations after suffering a surprise loss to Jeremy Chardy in the third round of the Cincinnati Open.
"[Murray] will certainly go into Grand Slams with that belief that he can get over the final hurdle having done it once," Judy told BBC Radio Four.
The final Grand Slam of the season gets underway in a fortnight's time.
