Simona Halep has battled back from a set behind to defeat Petra Kvitova and book her place in the final of the Madrid Open.

The Romanian pro came out on top 7-6(4) 6-3 6-2 in a time of two hours and 38 minutes to advance through on Saturday afternoon.
Kvitova took the first set after a tense tie-break which saw the Czech blow two set points, before eventually wrapping up proceedings having broken Halep's serve.
Halep lost serve in the opening game of the second set, but she managed to move up a gear to eventually win the set 6-3 having earned two breaks of serve to level the contest overall.
The deciding set continued in a similar way, with Kvitova this time losing serve in the opening game before world number five Halep raced into a 6-3 lead to book her place in the final, where she will face either Agnieszka Radwanska or Maria Sharapova.
