Milos Raonic has kept his hopes of a place at the ATP World Tour Finals alive by beating Steve Johnson in Basel.
The world number nine trails both Andy Murray and David Ferrer in the race for London but after back-to-back defeats, he got the better of his American opponent on Tuesday.
After a tight opening set that saw no breaks of serve, Raonic struck in the tie-break to edge closer to the last 16.
The Canadian had to withstand five break-point opportunities from his opponent throughout their contest in Switzerland, but in the second set, he took one of his two openings to help him to a 7-6 6-4 victory.
