Leyton Orient vs. Manchester City: Head-to-head record and past meetings

Ahead of Saturday's FA Cup clash between Leyton Orient and Man City, Sports Mole looks at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two clubs.

League One playoff hopefuls Leyton Orient welcome reigning Premier League champions Manchester City to Brisbane Road for a fourth-round tie in the FA Cup on Saturday lunchtime.

Pep Guardiola's side enter this contest on the back of suffering a heavy 5-1 top-flight defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last weekend, leaving them fifth in the table but only two points behind the top four.

Meanwhile, Richie Wellens's men are also seeking to return to winning ways after losing 1-0 at home to Stockport County in League One, a result that sees them remain in sixth place and clinging on to a playoff spot.

Success in the FA Cup is now on the agenda for both sides, and here, Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two teams.

Head-to-head record

Previous meetings: 16
Leyton Orient wins: 2
Draws: 2
Man City wins: 12

Leyton Orient and Manchester City have faced each other a total of 16 times across all competitions, with the Citizens comfortably leading the head-to-head record having posted 12 wins to the O's two, while there have also been just two draws played out between these two teams.

Their very first meeting took place back in September 1909 when Orient secured a 3-2 home victory over Man City in the old Division Two. The Citizens got their revenge, though, and won the reverse fixture 2-1 on their own turf seven months later.

In fact, Man City went on to win their next eight encounters with Orient over a 52-year period, including two FA Cup triumph's by a 4-1 scoreline and a 6-1 scoreline in January 1920 and March 1926 respectably.

Man City picked up four points from their only two top-flight meetings with Orient in the 1962-63 season, winning 2-0 at home and drawing 1-1 away, although both teams were relegated that season.

The Citizens' biggest win over Orient to date is an emphatic 6-0 second-tier triumph at Maine Road in August 1964, but the O's came out on top in a seven-goal thriller just five days later, winning 4-3.

The most recent meeting between these two teams took place in May 1966 when they played out a 2-2 draw in a campaign when Man City were promoted as champions of the second tier and Orient were relegated after finishing rock bottom.
