Andy Murray: "Nice to get back" to world number two ranking

Andy Murray speaks of his happiness following his elevation up to second in the world rankings.

Andy Murray has admitted that it was "nice" to have secured his place as the world's number two men's tennis player.

The Scot ensured that he would leapfrog Roger Federer when the rankings are released on Monday thanks to a 6-3 6-0 victory over Kei Nishikori in the semi-finals of the Rogers Cup.

"It's nice to get back there, especially after everything I went through last year with the surgery and dropping out of the top 10," said the 28-year-old.

"A lot of questions were being asked about how my game was physically and stuff. It's good to get back close to the top. I'll keep working hard and try to get that one spot higher."

Murray last entered the top two back in August 2013.
