Kyle Edmund is planning to learn from the way that Andy Murray went on from his wildcard entry in Wimbledon.

British youngster Kyle Edmund has insisted that he "can learn" from the path that Andy Murray has taken.

Like Murray did back in 2005, Edmund will make his debut at Wimbledon as an 18-year-old this week courtesy of a wildcard entry when he comes up against 24th seed Jerzy Janowicz.

However, rather than feel any pressure from the recent comparisons with US Open champion Murray, Edmund has described the 26-year-old's rise to prominence as a "great inspiration" to him.

"He's such a great inspiration, especially being British," Edmund is quoted as saying by The Sun. "He's been on this path. He got wildcards for his first Wimbledon and it was a real stepping stone to launch his career. I can learn from it.

"It's such a great honour and opportunity to be playing Wimbledon this year. Of course I'd be up for playing on Centre Court. I've been watching Centre Court since I was a little boy. It's a dream to play on it. But whichever court I play on, it's Wimbledon."

Edmund recently won the junior French Open doubles title alongside Frederico Ferreira Silva.
