Great Britain skier Katie Summerhayes secures a top-10 finish in the Sochi Olympic skiing slopestyle competition.

Great Britain skier Katie Summerhayes has secured a top-10 finish in today's Olympic skiing slopestyle competition, her score of 70.60 putting her in seventh place at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park.

In an event marred by several falls, the Sheffield-born teenager crashed into the snow during her first attempt, earning a score of 19.40, but made amends in her second run.

The gold medal was secured by Canada skier Dara Howell, whose first run result of 94.20 remained unbeaten throughout the final.

Meanwhile, Devin Logan of the United States earned herself the silver medal with a first run score of 85.40. She couldn't build on it after crashing on her second attempt.

Kim Lamarre, who crashed on her first run, ensured that two Canadians would be on the podium after moving into bronze position right at the end with a score of 85.00, at the expense of Australia's Anna Segal.
