Arsenal set a new club clean sheet record in Saturday's 2-0 Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Arsenal achieved a new club record with a strong defensive display in Saturday's 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

The Gunners bounced back from their midweek Champions League exit to move to the top of the Premier League table with an away win over Wolves.

Leandro Trossard scored his ninth league goal of the season to give the Gunners a narrow half-time lead, before Martin Odegaard found the net in stoppage time to round off a professional away performance.

The Arsenal backline managed to produce a resolute display to lay the foundations for the win and help the club set a new club record.

Record-breaking defence

As a result of the shutout, the Gunners have now recorded six consecutive Premier League away clean sheets for the first time in their history.

Mikel Arteta's side began their record-breaking run with a 6-0 win over West Ham United, before recording two more shutouts in dominant victories against relegation-threatened Burnley and Sheffield United.

After holding title rivals Manchester City to a goalless draw at the Etihad Stadium, Arsenal kept another clean sheet in a 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this month.

With the club record under their belt, Arsenal are now on the brink of equalling the overall Premier League record which is held by Chelsea and Manchester City.

Chelsea completed a run of seven consecutive away league clean sheets in December 2008, before the Citizens matched that feat in February 2009.

Arsenal's stubborn backline

Arsenal have now recorded a total of 15 Premier League clean sheets this season, which is the highest number that they have achieved since racking up 18 shutouts in 2015-16.

In regards to the current campaign, the Gunners have claimed five more shutouts than the next-best tally of Newcastle United.

Arsenal will hope to produce another strong defensive display when they welcome Chelsea to the Emirates on Tuesday.

They will then turn their attention to next Sunday's North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur as they look to remain in the race for their first Premier League title in 20 years.
