Arsenal 'weigh up £33m Jonathan Tah swoop'

Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah emerges as a potential summer transfer target for Arsenal, according to a report.

Arsenal are reportedly considering a summer move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.

The Gunners signed Pablo Mari from Flamengo in January as cover at the back, but the 26-year-old, as it stands, is only on loan at the Emirates Stadium.

RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano has also been linked with a move to London, although Mikel Arteta's side are thought to be behind the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich when it comes to the Frenchman.

According to Bild, Tah has now emerged as an option for Arsenal, who are considering activating the £33m release clause in the 24-year-old's contract during this summer's transfer window.

The Germany international has made 26 appearances for Leverkusen during the 2019-20 campaign, including 18 outings in the Bundesliga.

Tah's current deal at the BayArena will run until the end of June 2023.
