Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that the club's move for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is currently on "standby".

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that the club's move for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is on "standby".

The Uruguay international recently accused Reds manager Brendan Rodgers of going back on his word that the striker could leave Anfield for a Premier League club this summer.

The Merseyside outfit have rejected two bids from Arsenal, one thought to be £40,000,001, which Suarez's camp believe triggered a release clause in his contract, while Liverpool beg to differ.

"At the moment the situation is on standby," Wenger told Al Jazeera. "I really don't know [what the latest is regarding Suarez], that's for sure, I really don't know what will be decided by Liverpool."

Rodgers recently claimed that Arsenal's bids have been nowhere near the valuation of Suarez in the current market.
