Aston Villa's Paul Lambert: 'Christian Benteke will learn from his sending-off'

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert insists that Christian Benteke will "learn" from his sending-off for raising his hand to Tottenham's Ryan Mason.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is confident that Christian Benteke will "learn" from his actions that resulted in a sending-off against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The Belgium international was given a straight red card in the second half for raising his hand to Ryan Mason's face during yesterday's 2-1 defeat to Spurs at Villa Park.

"He will because he is only 23 and only been here a few years," Western Morning News quotes Lambert as saying. "He missed a lot of last year and he'll learn as he gets older.

"I don't think they could handle him and he is getting better, there's no two ways about it. Slowly but surely. It's a blow."

The Midlands outfit have lost their last six games.
