Roma are reportedly desperate to sign Atletico Madrid centre-back Jose Gimenez in this summer's transfer window.
The 22-year-old joined Atletico from Uruguayan side Danubio in 2013, and has been a regular at the Vicente Calderon over the last three seasons.
Gimenez was forced to play second fiddle to fellow centre-backs Diego Godin and Stefan Savic for periods of the 2016-17 campaign, however, and it is understood that the defender is considering his long-term future in Madrid.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Roma 'dream' of signing Gimenez, and last season's Serie A runners-up will attempt to bring the defender to Italy ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.
Uruguay international Gimenez, who only started 12 La Liga matches for Atletico last season, is understood to be keen to secure regular football in the build-up to the 2018 World Cup.
