Xavi: 'I never want to leave Barcelona'

Spanish midfielder Xavi says that he never wants to leave Barcelona.

Barcelona captain Xavi has said that he never wants to leave the Catalan outfit.

The veteran midfielder has been with Barca since 1991, making more than 700 appearances and winning a host of trophies.

The 34-year-old was strongly linked with a move away from the Camp Nou this summer, but has said that he simply could not leave.

"If it was up to me, I would never leave Barcelona, but that decision will lie out of my hands. There's been many times where I could have left but I've never been able to," he told Canal+.

"I told the club this summer that I didn't want to play for another club in Europe, I never want to play for someone else against Barca. I want to finish my career here."

Xavi has thus far struggled to hold down a spot in the Barcelona XI this season.
