Peterborough United boss Grant McCann has reportedly emerged as a potential managerial target for Barnsley.
Earlier this week, Paul Heckingbottom made the decision to leave Oakwell in order to make the switch to Leeds United, leaving the Tykes to search for a replacement.
Lincoln City's Danny Cowley has been linked with the vacant position but according to The Telegraph, McCann is also a candidate for the role.
Despite not turning 38 until April, McCann is already 99 matches into his current spell with the League One side, with 41 victories and 23 draws being recorded since April 2016.
McCann still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his existing deal, but Barnsley allegedly feel that the former Northern Ireland international will fit in with their philosophy of developing younger talent at Oakwell.
Barnsley currently sit just one point above the relegation zone in the Championship standings.
