Howe: 'Hard work paying off for Ibe'

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes that Jordon Ibe is reaping the rewards for his professional attitude and willingness to improve.

Eddie Howe has backed winger Jordon Ibe to push on from his improved displays over the past week to truly fulfil his potential at Bournemouth.

The 21-year-old failed to live up to expectations at the Vitality Stadium in his first campaign at the club, registering zero goals and assists upon his club-record move from Liverpool.

Ibe's career on the south coast appeared to be ignited last week when setting up two goals from the bench in the 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion, however, while also showing glimpses of quality during his 100 minutes on the pitch in the EFL Cup tie against the same opponents.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's trip to Everton, Howe told reporters: "Jordon looked confident when he came on. He looked sure of himself, took the game to Brighton and then created the two goals, and carried that on in midweek. He was all over the pitch, technically good and positive, and a good week for him as well as us.

"Working with him, he has the talent and the tools to do well. He's come in on his days off and worked with the coaches, and shown a willingness to improve. Sometimes you get instant rewards, sometimes it takes time. And that's the challenge for the players, when you don't get the instant returns. But he's been patient and hopefully he's seen the progression."

Bournemouth have now won back-to-back games in all competitions following a previous run of four defeats in five.
