Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar says that Neymar has a chance of being back in the squad for the last-16 clash with South Korea at the World Cup.

Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar has revealed that Neymar has a chance of being back in the squad for the last-16 contest with South Korea at the World Cup.

The Paris Saint-Germain attacker picked up an ankle injury in the 2-0 victory over Serbia on November 24, which saw him miss the nation's next two group games against Switzerland and Cameroon.

At the time, Lasmar said in a statement: "Neymar and Danilo went through an MRI on Friday afternoon and we found ligament damage in the ankle of both of them.

"They will miss the next game for sure and we will be cautious as they will undergo treatment in order to try to get them in shape so they can play again in the World Cup.

"It is very important for us to be very calm, peaceful; this assessment will be carried out daily so that we have information and make the best decisions based on that."

A recent report claimed that Neymar could miss the remainder of the World Cup, with the ankle injury more serious than initially feared.

However, Lasmar has said that Neymar, and Alex Sandro, who suffered a hip injury against Switzerland, could be back in the squad against South Korea on Monday.

"Regarding Neymar and Alex Sandro, we think we have time on our hands and there is a possibility," Lasmar told reporters.

"Let's wait what their transition will be - they have still not started to train with the ball and it's something they will do tomorrow. It will be important to see how they respond to this new style, so depending on that, we will make a call."

Danilo could also return from injury for the team's last-16 contest, but Alex Telles and Gabriel Jesus are now both doubts following the issues that they picked up in the defeat to Cameroon.

"Alex Telles came off complaining of pain in his right knee after trauma," Lasmar added. "He has been assessed in the changing room and tomorrow will do a magnetic resonance image to be able to assess his condition.

"Gabriel Jesus after the game complained of pain in his right knee and after clinical assessment, we have asked for an imaging exam tomorrow."

Neymar is the second-highest goalscorer for Brazil, finding the back of the net on 75 occasions, which has left him just two behind Pele.

Should Tite's side manage to navigate their way past South Korea in the round of 16, the five-time world champions would take on either Japan or Croatia in the quarter-finals on December 9.
