Brest 0-1 Rennes

Julien Feret's 45th-minute panalty decides matters at the Stade Francis-le Blé.

Rennes have gone fourth in Ligue 1 with a 1-0 victory over Breton rivals Brest.

A cagey game was decided when the referee pointed to the spot on the stroke of half time.

Jonathan Pitroipa was felled in the area by Ahmed Kantari and Julien Feret stepped up to take the spot-kick.

Feret planted the ball past Steeve Elana and into the bottom right corner to put the visitors in front.

The game remained tight, with few presentable opportunities for either side.

Rennes managed to hold on for victory to keep them in contention for a European berth.
