Chris Hughton praises Pascal Gross following impact at Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton heaps praise on Pascal Gross following the playmaker's early impact at the club and in the Premier League.

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton has heaped praise on summer signing Pascal Gross following the playmaker's early impact at the club.

Since joining the Seagulls in the summer, Gross has five assists in 10 Premier League games and has also contributed two goals for the newly-promoted side.

The German's latest assist came as the club fought back from behind to draw 1-1 with Southampton, leading Hughton to press home the importance of the 26-year-old's recent performances.

"We knew before he came here he was capable of assists, because of the type of player he is," said Hughton, according to The Argus.

"But to be doing it at this level as a new player just into the Premier League is outstanding. In Premier League terms there's not an awful lot you can get for that sort of money, particularly now. Credit to our scouting department that made me aware of him quite some time ago.

"One is his assists but more importantly it's about what he is giving to the team. He gives us a work ethic and desire to want to do well. That comes first."

Brighton currently occupy 12th spot in the league standings, having collected 12 points from 10 games this campaign.
