Brighton edge to win over Blackburn Rovers to stay unbeaten

Kazenga Lua Lua's deflected strike sees Brighton & Hove Albion edge to a win over Blackburn Rovers and continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Kazenga Lua Lua's deflected strike has given Brighton & Hove Albion a narrow 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers and extended their unbeaten start to the season.

Blackburn started brightly and had early chances to take the lead when David Stockdale saved Bengali-Fode Koita's low drive, before Craig Conway was also denied by the goalkeeper after he was put through by a fine Danny Guthrie pass.

However, it was Brighton who took the lead when Lua Lua blasted home from the edge of the box via a deflection off Grant Hanley against the run of play.

Ben Marshall came close to a spectacular equaliser soon after the restart when his lob from fully 35 yards landed on the roof of the net, before Nathan Delfouneso could not beat Stockdale when through on goal.

As the game opened up, David Raya made a superb double stop to prevent Brighton from extending their lead, first to claw away Tomer Hemed's header from under the crossbar before denying Dale Stephens on the rebound.

Bruno cleared Shane Duffy's header off the line as Blackburn looked for an equaliser but it was Brighton who prevailed to keep up their unbeaten start to the season.
