Burnley put two past Yeovil Town

Sean Dyche's Burnley put two past Yeovil Town.

Second-half goals from Keith Treacy and Sam Vokes gave Burnley a 2-0 victory over Yeovil Town, ensuring that Sean Dyche's men continued their unbeaten start to the season.

Burnley took the initiative in the opening exchanges as Ross Wallace's shot tested young goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

Dean Marney caused problems for Yeovil and a driving run from the Burnley midfielder saw him feed Vokes, whose curling effort went wide of the post. Vokes popped up again several minutes later, but it was his interference that saw good work from Danny Ings wasted.

Marney continued to impress and could have scored had his headed effort not flown just over the bar.

Yet it was Yeovil who spurned the best chance of the first half when Paddy Madden's shot was smartly saved by Tom Heaton, leaving Liam David to blast over from close range.

Burnley nearly made Yeovil pay on the stroke of half time when Kieran Trippier's right-footed cross was met by Vokes, who could only steer his header over the crossbar.

Following the interval, Burnley continued to search for an opening as Junior Stanislas bent a shot wide following good work from Vokes.

Yeovil responded with a cleverly worked free kick, but the final ball was headed wide by Daniel Seaborne.

Burnley finally took the lead in the 74th minute when Treacy's cross bizarrely evolved into a shot and crept in off the underside of the crossbar.

Burnley then made it 2-0 as a Ings header hit the post and fell to the feet of Scott Arfield, who thumped his shot off Vokes and into the goal.
