Cardiff City have no plans to change crest

Cardiff plan no crest changes
Cardiff release a statement assuring fans that Malaysian owner Vincent Tan does not plan to alter the Bluebird crest.

Cardiff City's Malaysian owner has insisted that he has no plans to change the club's current crest.

Vincent Tan last week denied reports that he was considering rebranding the Welsh outfit as the Cardiff Dragons.

In the summer, Tan opted to have the club's home strip changed from their original blue to red and introduced a dragon of the same colour on the shirt's badge.

Cardiff fans were angered by these decisions but Tan has assured them that an alteration to the Bluebird crest is not in the pipeline.

A statement on the club's website read: "Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that the board has agreed to retain the existing club crest for the foreseeable future, without any modifications or changes.

"The board was advised by Tan Sri Vincent Tan on this confirmation, based on the guidance and recommendations of the Cardiff City management team. Tan Sri Vincent Tan would like to place on record his thanks to the management team on this matter.

"All at Cardiff City Football Club should now remain fully focused in supporting Malky Mackay and his squad for the remaining fixtures of the season."

Cardiff are currently top of the Championship, five points clear of second-placed Hull City in the battle for promotion to the Premier League.
