Craig Conway strike gives Cardiff the points

Cardiff City's Craig Conway scores the only goal of the game to give his side all three points against Sheffield Wednesday.

Craig Conway struck in the 80th minute to give Cardiff City maximum points from their home encounter with Sheffield Wednesday this afternoon.

Hosting Cardiff dominated large parts of the opening 45 minutes but they were unable to breach Chris Kirkland's net.

The Wednesday goalkeeper first got down low to deny a shot from Jordan Mutch with 24 minutes played, before getting across his line well to keep out an effort by centre-back Mark Hudson following a corner from Peter Whittingham in the 33rd minute.

Cardiff continued to attack at the beginning of the second half and with 46 minutes gone Craig Bellamy and Heidar Helguson exchanged passes to set up the latter with a goalscoring chance. However, the former Iceland international shot just over the bar from the edge of the area.

Visiting Wednesday then had two chances to break the deadlock in the 56th minute, but substitute Gary Madine was denied by David Marshall in the home goal and then Chris O'Grady shot wide of the target from just outside the area.

The match then switched back in Cardiff's favour, but it looked as though they were going to be frustrated by Kirkland.

However, with 10 minutes remaining Joe Mason picked out Conway inside the area and the Scottish winger sent the ball beyond the reach of Kirkland.
