Leeds United 'eye Ross Barkley as Rodrigo De Paul alternative'

Leeds United consider a loan move for Chelsea attacker Ross Barkley, according to a report.

Leeds United are reportedly considering a move for Chelsea's Ross Barkley as the Premier League club struggle to get a deal for Udinese's Rodrigo De Paul over the line.

The Whites continue to be strongly linked with De Paul but are finding it difficult to agree a fee with Udinese, meaning that Marcelo Bielsa's side could be forced to look elsewhere.

According to Football Insider, Leeds are now considering alternatives for the playmaker and have identified Barkley as a potential addition before this summer's transfer window closes for business.

The report claims that last season's Championship winners are lining up a loan move for the England international, who still has three years left to run on his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Barkley has appeared off the bench in both of Chelsea's Premier League matches this season, while he played the full 90 minutes of Wednesday's 6-0 win over Barnsley in the EFL Cup.

The attacker previously represented Leeds on a short-term loan at the start of 2013.
