Chelsea are reportedly continuing to work on a loan agreement for Gonzalo Higuain after making the Argentine striker their transfer priority for this month.
The Blues are refusing to give up hope of landing the 31-year-old, despite the complicated nature of his contract situation.
Higuain joined AC Milan last summer on a loan deal that can be made permanent for £30m in six months' time, but he is still technically contracted to Juventus for the time being.
With Chelsea's pursuit of a new striker intensifying over the past few days, The Sun reports that Higuain remains the player Maurizio Sarri most wants to sign.
The two men previously worked together at Napoli and retain a good relationship, with the River Plate academy product scoring 36 goals in the 2015-16 Serie A campaign.
Higuain went on to join Juventus the following season in a £75m deal, but he lasted just two years before being shipped out to accommodate the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at the Allianz Stadium.
