Crystal Palace's Tyrick Mitchell is reportedly set to replace the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold in Gareth Southgate's England squad.

Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell is reportedly in line to receive his first call-up to the senior England squad.

The 22-year-old has been an ever-present in the Eagles' backline this term, registering two assists from 29 Premier League starts under Patrick Vieira.

Gareth Southgate has been dealt an early defensive blow for the upcoming international break, with Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold forced to pull out due to a hamstring injury.

According to the Daily Mail, Southgate will now turn to Mitchell to fill the defensive void after Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel also played down Reece James's chances of playing for the Three Lions.

Southgate admitted that Mitchell was "really close" to making the initial cut last week, with the left-back "one in his thoughts" should enforced alterations need to be made.

England are due to take on Switzerland on March 26 before a battle with Ivory Coast three days later.
