Having made three appearances for the East Midlands outfit this season, the 18-year-old has been provided with his debut for Wales Under-21s.

However, according to The Mirror, Southgate wants the teenager to instead become a part of the Three Lions youth setup.

Johnson has previously played for England Under-16s and Under-17s, only to begin representing Wales from the Under-18s side upwards.

Johnson, who only turned 18 in May, is currently pencilled in to play for Wales against Germany on Tuesday night.
