Roberto Martinez 'concerned' by Dynamo Kiev pitch

Everton manager Roberto Martinez admits that he is 'concerned' by the state of the pitch at Dynamo Kiev's Olympic Stadium ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that he is 'concerned' with the pitch at Dynamo Kiev's Olympic Stadium ahead of their Europa League last-16 second leg tomorrow night.

The Toffees were forced to train on the running track surrounding the pitch earlier today due to a protective sheet covering the playing surface.

Martinez admitted that it was "a shame" that the turf was not in perfect condition, but does not believe that either side will gain an advantage from the state of it.

"The pitch is a concern for both teams. Dynamo Kiev are a technical team and they need a good pitch, and we are exactly the same," Martinez told reporters.

"I don't think it will play a big part in terms of giving a favour or advantage to either of the two sides.

"I think it is a little bit of a shame for the game of football that the pitch is not going to be in perfect condition. But you have to adapt to whatever surface you play on."

Everton go into the second leg with a 2-1 aggregate lead following their victory at Goodison Park last week.
