Muhamed Besic: 'Premier League has improved me as a player'

Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic claims that the Premier League has improved him as an all-round player.

Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic has claimed that the intensity of the Premier League has helped him improve him as a player.

The Bosnian international was signed from Ferencvaros last summer after impressing Toffees boss Roberto Martinez with his displays at the World Cup in Brazil.

The 22-year-old believes that the Premier League is the world's best, and he explained to the club's official magazine how England's top tier has developed his game.

Besic said: "England is the best league in the world. Teams press all over the pitch. It wasn't what I expected at first, and it was hard at the beginning but now I think I am better than before.

"I was always a good player; it's just sometimes I wasn't quick enough. For example, I sometimes take one touch, sometimes two touches and sometimes I would dribble.

"I was always trying to dribble but now I've learnt much more about having to take just one touch to make the game fast, and that is important for the number six position. It is about knowing when to pass and when to dribble."

Besic was signed for around £4m.
