Everton chairman Bill Kenwright donates directors' box seats to supporters

Fans will return to Goodison Park for the first time since March when Everton play Chelsea on Saturday.

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has donated his two directors' box seats to fans for the club's remaining Premier League home games in 2020.

Two thousand season-ticket holders will attend Everton's home game against Chelsea on Saturday as a limited number of fans are allowed back into Goodison Park for the first time since March.

Kenwright told the club's official website that the empty stadium due to the coronavirus pandemic had left him with "a consistent feeling of sadness".

"Hopefully this period is coming to an end and we can soon be fully back to enjoying matches played as they should be – with all of us together," he said.

"Now though, and as a small number of fans are to be allowed back, I want to make this gesture.

"While it will be a different experience for the 2,000 on Saturday I know they'll all be thrilled to be back home and, to the two who get my seats, give them a cheer for me."

Fans will be chosen for the chairman's seat and chairman's guest seat for Chelsea's visit and the upcoming home games against Arsenal and Manchester City via a ballot.
