Bryan Oviedo targets World Cup recovery

Everton full-back Bryan Oviedo is hoping to recover from injury in time to play in the World Cup this summer.

Everton left-back Bryan Oviedo has revealed that he is hoping to recover from a double leg fracture in time to take part in Costa Rica's World Cup campaign in the summer.

Oviedo suffered a horrific break trying to win the ball in the Toffees' 4-0 win over Stevenage in the FA Cup, and after successful surgery the player is now looking forward to his return to action.

"When I woke up after the surgery, I thought 'Oh God, I hope I'm okay'," he told The Sun. "Then I looked at my foot to see if it was still there. I'm laughing now but I had a huge fear.

"It was a really hard experience but I'm trying to keep positive and will fight with all my strength to be back playing football as soon as possible. I still want to play in the World Cup."

Costa Rica are in a group with England, Italy and Uruguay.
