FC Twente will be hoping to get 2025 off to a winning start when they face fellow top-half opponents Willem II at De Grolsch Veste in Sunday's early kickoff in the Eredivisie.
The hosts went into the December break in sixth place with 31 points, while the visitors ended the year in ninth place with 22 points across the first half of the season.
We say: FC Twente 2-1 Willem II
Despite ending 2024 fairly poorly, Twente are yet to taste defeat at De Grolsch Veste this season and are unbeaten in their last five matches against this opponent. We expect the visitors to provide another stern test here, but fancy the host to edge the result.

Groningen vs. Almere City (Sunday, 1.30pm)

Two teams that could really do with a victory in round 18 of the 2024-25 Eredivisie campaign will do battle at Euroborg on Sunday as Groningen entertain the challenge of Almere City.
The hosts are without a victory since late November, while the away side make the trip this weekend aiming to win consecutive games for the first time this season.
We say: Groningen 2-1 Almere City
Despite a rare clean sheet last time out, Almere City have been found wanting defensively on several occasions this season.
While Groningen do not boast a great degree of attacking firepower, we can see them doing enough to secure the points.

Feyenoord vs. Utrecht (Sunday, 1.30pm)

Arguably the pick of the matches in the Eredivisie this weekend will come from Stadion Feijenoord, where Feyenoord will be playing host to FC Utrecht on Sunday afternoon.
These sides went into the festive break separated by just a single point after the first half of the season, with Utrecht holding the advantage on 36 points and in third place in the standings.
We say: Feyenoord 2-1 FC Utrecht
While Utrecht have done their best work on the road this season, they ended 2024 on a downward trajectory, with just one win in their last five matches, and have lost each of their last five against this opponent across all competitions.
Feyenoord have dropped points far too regularly this season, which sees them 10 points off the pace of the league leaders, but we feel they will kickstart the New Year with a victory in this one.

NAC Breda vs. Heerenveen (Sunday, 3.45pm)

NAC Breda and Heerenveen will draw the curtain on round 18 of the 2024-25 Eredivisie season with a meeting at the Rat Verlegh Stadion on Sunday afternoon.
The home side were on the receiving end of a comprehensive 4-0 defeat in August's reverse meeting against the visitors and will now set out in search of revenge.
We say: NAC Breda 1-0 Heerenveen
There is little to choose between the sides, and Sunday's contest could easily swing in either direction.
Playing in front of their fans, the onus is more on Breda to seize the initiative, so we fancy them to come out on top when all is said and done.
